The pulse of New York City, a symphony of human energy and urban grit, coursed through John Dowling Jr.'s veins. From the moment he first set foot on its concrete jungle in the early 1980s, he was captivated by its relentless rhythm, its kaleidoscope of cultures, and the stories etched on every face he encountered. Dowling, a young photographer with a hunger for capturing the human spirit, found himself drawn to the city's vibrant streets, his camera a passport to a world of endless possibilities. He immersed himself in the city's diverse neighborhoods, from the artistic haven of SoHo to the elegant brownstones of the Upper West Side, his lens documenting the lives of everyday New Yorkers and the ever-changing face of the city itself. Central Park, a sprawling oasis amidst the urban jungle, became his sanctuary, a place where he could observe the ebb and flow of human interaction against a backdrop of natural beauty. He captured candid moments of laughter and contemplation, lovers strolling hand-in-hand, children chasing pigeons, and solitary figures finding solace amidst the towering trees. Read More

The dazzling lights of Times Square, the roar of the crowd, and the electrifying energy of a New Year's Eve performance – this was the backdrop for John Dowling Jr.'s ascent into the world of celebrity photography. Tasked with capturing the iconic Taylor Swift for the cover of Model Citizens Magazine, Dowling found himself at the heart of a pop culture phenomenon, his lens capturing not just a rising star, but a cultural icon in the making. Dowling's journey to this moment had been paved with a series of fortunate encounters and a keen eye for talent. His first celebrity client was none other than Muhammad Ali, a legend whose charisma and global impact transcended the world of sports. This early success instilled in Dowling a confidence and an understanding of the power of capturing iconic personalities at pivotal moments in their careers. But the Taylor Swift shoot was different. This was a young artist on the cusp of superstardom, her music resonating with a generation and her savvy use of social media propelling her into the stratosphere of fame. Dowling, with his forward-thinking approach to media, recognized the power of capturing Swift's performance not just for print, but for the burgeoning world of online video. He was granted unprecedented access, allowed to film Swift's entire New Year's Eve performance in high-definition, a rarity in those early days of internet video. Dowling's footage captured the energy of the crowd, the intimacy of Swift's connection with her fans, and the raw talent that would soon make her a global icon. Read More

John has often commented that he knows what it is like to work as part of a team and considers himself a team player. He wrestled for six years, from seventh grade through twelfth grade, and for a few months through his first year of college. John participated in four varsity sports in his senior year of high school earning him an award given to only eight students from his graduating class. And yes, John is quite proud of that accomplishment. John also enjoyed running with his “ultra-marathon Iron Man father” who founded the Long Island Road Runners Club. John and his father often ran upwards of six miles per day, in and around Eisenhower Park as well as in hundreds of road races and several marathons. John held the record for the 220-meter relay, along with his high school teammates, for well over ten years. He ran his best mile in four minutes, fifty-nine seconds in one of his father’s Sunday races at Eisenhower Park. John was an exceptional student when he applied himself. Even with his focus being on sports he received an honors diploma and graduated in the top ten percent of his class. Although he did not know it at the time, he has severe dyslexia, which made it nearly impossible to read long chapters or novels. His almost photographic memory allowed him to succeed in school despite the significant challenges he had in reading. To this day John has never read a single novel, even though he writes them ChaptersOfLove.net. He has however read millions of pages of technical data and tech manuals. Once John acquired his first computer he developed the ability to read and type nearly as fast as he could think and considers the computer and camera as an extension of his brain. John Dowling Jr. (A.K.A. John Joseph Dowling Jr.) is a fine artist, photojournalist, producer, director, and writer who has been writing and taking photographs most of his life. Originally, he was very private about his writing, but he began sharing his stories with others over time. John loves creating, and has often been told that he truly has the “heart and mind of an artist.” Although John is a fine artist, he can use both the left and right sides of his brain. JDiving into the Depths: Capturing the Beauty and Fragility of Atlantis Aquarium's Coral Reef The underwater world holds a mesmerizing allure, a realm of vibrant colors, intricate ecosystems, and silent serenity. As a producer granted exclusive access to film within the depths of Atlantis Aquarium's coral reef, I embarked on a journey that was both challenging and awe-inspiring. Tasked with capturing the beauty of this underwater oasis for a high-definition documentary, I quickly learned that underwater filming is an art form in itself, demanding a unique blend of technical skill, patience, and respect for the delicate balance of marine life. As publisher and producer, I poured my heart and soul into capturing the essence of Long Island, from its charming villages and bustling downtowns to its serene beaches and sprawling estates. We showcased the diversity of life on the Island, highlighting the stories of its residents, the beauty of its natural wonders, and the allure of its real estate. We explored the history of iconic landmarks, delved into the stories behind local businesses, and showcased the architectural wonders of Long Island's diverse communities. One of the most rewarding aspects of the project was featuring stunning properties like the Garden City home you mentioned. Through captivating visuals and compelling narratives, we brought these homes to life, showcasing their unique features, their architectural beauty, and their connection to the surrounding community.
